About Feldenkrais
Named after its originator, Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, a physicist, the Feldenkrais Method focuses on helping you to expand your range of motion and improve your breathing and body alignment. The system uses more than 1000 different exercises to help your body reprogram your brain for better mind/body function.
The Feldenkrais Method helps those experiencing chronic or acute pain of:
- Back
- Neck
- Shoulders
- Hips
- Legs
- Knees
The Method has been very helpful in dealing with central nervous system conditions such as multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and stroke. Musicians, actors, and artists can extend their abilities and enhance their creativity. Seniors enjoy using it to retain or regain their ability to move without strain or discomfort.
Experiencing a Feldenkrais Session
In a session, the Feldenkrais practitioner communicates the movements through slow, gentle touch. Comfortably clothed, the client is led through a series of precise movements that alter habitual patterns and provide new learning directly to the neuromuscular system. Due to the nonintrusive nature of the Feldenkrais Method, it has been found very effective for those with physical handicaps that prevent more traditional types of bodywork.
