Polarity Therapy

About Polarity Therapy

Polarity Therapy is a natural healthcare system with its scope of practice based upon the universal principles of energy: attraction, repulsion and neutrality. The interrelation of these principles forms the basis for every aspect of life, including your experience of health, wellness and disease. With this understanding, Polarity Therapy addresses the interdependence of body, mind and spirit and the value of creating a way of life in harmony with nature.

The practice of polarity is a system of energetic touch, reflex and acupressure points that balance energy flow in your body. Polarity, an integrative approach to healing and wellness, involves energetic bodywork, energetic exercise and polarity yoga stretches, and energetic food awareness.

Experiencing a Polarity Therapy Session

In a typical session, the practitioner assesses energetic attributes using energetic touch, observation and interview methods. Sessions usually take 60-90 minutes, do not require disrobing, and involve soft touch, some rocking as well as point specific touch.

Energetic Touch is the work Polarity Practitioners perform with clients - verbal interaction is energetic communication that has to do with reading the energy in people's words and staying neutral versus engaging in the emotions of the patient and verbal interaction. Contact may be light, medium or firm. In the session, the practitioner supports the client in increasing self-awareness of subtle energetic sensations, which are often experienced as tingling, warmth, expansion or wavelike movement. The results of Polarity Therapy sessions vary, and may include profound relaxation, an understanding of energetic patterns and their implications, and relief from numerous specific problematic situations such as hypertension, anxiety attacks and breathing disorders.

How is Polarity Therapy Practiced?

In polarity therapy, four therapeutic techniques are related: bodywork, energetic foods, exercise and self-awareness. In the bodywork portion of this therapy, practitioners place their hands lightly on the body to redirect the client's energy. Cleansing programs and yoga-like exercises may be recommended to enhance the client's health.
